Why do MANCHESTER UNITED and LIVERPOOL hate each other

Why do Scousers and Red devils hate each other

A Brief History Of The Rivalry Between Manchester United and Liverpool

Before the start of the Champions league final between Real Madrid and Liverpool on the night of 26 May,there was a proxy war going on twitter between Ex-England international and former Red devil Gary Neville and Liverpool supporters spearheaded by Liverpool born Dj Spoony.Neville fired the first bullet after being proved by Dj Spoony by asking his former Manchester United team mate and Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo to defeat Liverpool in the champions league final.
Neville also tweeted an impressive piece of verse
"They thought they’d conquered Europe
 Celebrating six
To this Dj spoony replied by tweeting,"Mr @GNev2 I've seen your message to your old team mate.
"If we win 2moro you will get a text, video message, Whatsapp message and maybe a couple of dedicated tweet. And you can tell your brother the same for him too. #YNWA"Liverpool lost the match  3-1 thanks to some extraordinary MMA skills shown by Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos and moments of magic and tragedy shown by Gareth Bale and Loris Kauris respectively.Neville took this opportunity to brutally mock liverpool fans on twitter by making his own version of Liverpools famous "ALLEZ ALLEZ ALLEZ" fanchant which reads as follows,

"They thought they’d conquered Europe
 Celebrating six
            Thank You Gareth Bale
You Made them look like D@@@@
The Twenty Sixth of May Always in our heart
 United won the Treble
The scousers fell apart."

The original chant is

'We’ve conquered all of Europe.
 ‘We’re never gonna stop.
 ‘From Paris down to Turkey.
 ‘We’ve won the f***ing lot.
 ‘Bob Paisley and Bill Shankly.
 ‘The fields of Anfield Road.
 ‘We are loyal supporters.
 ‘And we come from Liverpool.
 ‘Allez, Allez, Allez.’
For any fan outside Britian, this won't sound normal since bith the teams have their own city rivals namely Everton and Manchester city.
But for any fan in England it is completely normal. The amtch between these two teams is often dubbed as the northwest derby. The rivalry between the cities dates back to the time of industrial revolution.Liverpool was a prosperous port city while textile industry was blooming in Manchester. It was basically said that,"Liverpool trade what Manchester made."Manchester people were upset  with Liverpool's heavy taxation system. They eventually built their own Manchester ship Canal opened in 1894 thus bypassing  Liverpool and reaching the sea.

Though the fire between the cities later faded, the smoke is still coming out in the form of Football rivalry. The rivalry between the two clubs started before world war one but intensified after the end of world war two.Manchester united were dominant in the 50's and 60's winning 5 league titles and 1 champions league while Liverpool dominated both English and world football in 70's and 80's winning 11 league titles and 4 champions league.

But this Liverpool dominance was all set to change in 1986 when when young scottish manager Sir Alex Ferguson arrived in Manchester united as manager. His aim was to make Manchester uinted the best team in England at Liverpool's expense. He once said,"My greatest challenge was knocking Liverpool right after their fu@king perch.......And you can print that."

In his total 26 year career at Manchester united,Sir Alex won 13 league titles,2 champions league,5 FA cups and 4 league cup and many other. This helped united overtake Liverpool as the most successful club in England with 42 major trophies compared to Liverpools 41.

The rivalry has further intensified in the last three decades with Liverpool failing to win a single Premier league title whereas Sir Alex's United claiming 13.United also overtook Liverpool in total league title count with 20  titles compared to Liverpool's  18.
Manchester united fans taunted Liverpool fans after completing trebble in 1999 having prevented Liverpool to do so in 1977 thereby becoming the  First and only English team to do so.
After this the next major event came in 2006 infamouslly known as the 'KISSING BADGE'.Rio Ferdinand scored a late winner against Liverpool at Old Trafford in the league celebrating to which  Neville ran infront of Liverpool supporters and kissed his Manutd logo on his jersey.

He was handed a 2 match ban and £10,000 fine but he later said,"120 matches, 240, 360, I don't care!"

Next controversy came in 2011 when Patrice Evra accused then  Liverpool striker Luis Suarez of Racism which was later confirmed in the investigation by FA which said that Suarez used the word 'Nigro' refering to Patrice Evra.FA handed Suarez a 8 match ban though he said that he used the word only once. What later followed was the handshake  event between the two teams met on 12 FEB 2012.It was Suarez's first match since his 8 match ban.

Suarez snubbed Evra's handshake to move on to the next united player in line David De gea.Responding to this  Rio Ferdinand and Danny Welback refused handshake with Suarez.Liverpool eventually lost that game 2-1
On this inccident Sir Alex stated,"He (Suarez) is a disgrace to Liverpool Football Club. That player should not be allowed to play for Liverpool again. In a situation like today, he could have caused a riot.”
Suarez since then has denied the racism charge multiple times, and Evra received a very hoistile welcome on his premier league return at  Anfield this FEB.
The rivalry is deeply rooted in the cultures of both the cities and supporters of both teams hate eachother like  anything, which is not going to end anytime soon.
THIS IS THE BIGGEST RIVALRY IN ENGLISH FOOTBALL,'THE NORTH WEST DERBY.'
